Tyler & Wilson attorneys presented “Healthcare Decisions - Advance Directives” at various skilled nursing facilities on April 14, 2010 in recognition of  National Healthcare Decisions Day.

Elizabeth Plott Tyler presented at the CAHF DD Conference on May 4, 2010 on the “Do’s and Don’ts of Abuse Detection, Investigation and Reporting.

Elizabeth Plott Tyler presented at the QCHF Convention in November 2009 on “LTC Facility Reporting - Abuse and Beyond.” Regularly teaches “Elder Abuse and Duties of a Mandated Reporter in a Nursing Home”

Christine Wilson presented at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital of Whittier as the attorney representative for a continuing medical education panel entitled “Live or Let Die”, an ethics panel discussion.

Arthur Khachatourians presented “Fundamentals of a Criminal Case” at the Beverly Hills Bar Association in 2008 and “Sex, Violence and the 5th Amendment” at the Beverly Hills Bar Association in 2009.

Terry Schneier presented “Key Defense Strategies the Plaintiff Attorneys Don’t Want You to Know” with Bryan Reid of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith in Sacramento on March 14, 2010.

UPCOMING EDUCATION

Elizabeth Plott Tyler will speak at the QCHF Institute and CAHF Summer Conference in July 2010 on “Working in a Dual Enforcement Environment” and will be a panel member for a presentation entitled, “Best Practices for Handling AG/DOJ Abuse and Neglect Investigations.”

Christine J. Wilson will speak at the CAHF Summer Conference in July 2010 on “Mediation as a Tool for Resolving Family Disputes Regarding Medical Treatment.”

Christine J. Wilson will speak to the Professionals in Human Resources Association in September 2010 on “Can’t We All Get Along? Using Mediation Techniques to Smooth Molehills Before They Become Mountains.”

Elizabeth Plott Tyler and Terry Schneier will speak at the CAHF 60th Annual Convention and Expo on November 14, 2010 on “What to Do When a Crisis Comes Knocking.” Christine Wilson will speak on “Mediation as a Tool for Resolving Workplace Disputes.”

MATTER RESOLUTIONS

Elizabeth Plott Tyler participated in the settlement of a Class “A” Citation case in the Los Angeles Superior Court that resulted in the reduction of one Class “A” Citation to a “B” Citation, the reduction of two “B” Citations to deficiencies with no penalty and the reduction of the penalty on another Class “A” Citation.

Plaintiffs dismissed an elder abuse and neglect case handled by Christine J. Wilson and Terry Schneier of Tyler & Wilson and Bryan R. Reid of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith,  in exchange for a waiver of costs and malicious prosecution.

Christine J. Wilson and Bryan Reid of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith won a judgment against a plaintiff in an elder abuse and neglect case in an amount in excess of $100,000, and that judgment was upheld at both the Court of Appeals and the California Supreme Court.
